Vous n'avez pas l'usage de ces deux briques de papier ?

Yes: clothes made out of natural bamboo fibers. Why ?  Because they are soft as silk to the skin, keep you cooler than cotton and neutralize human bacteria, so less sweat and less body odour ? Yes.

BUT THERE IS MORE !!

Wearing bamboo clothes helps fighting the global warming up of our planet (cotton does not, on the contrary !) because bamboo grass takes in nearly 5 times the amount of greenhouse gases and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.

The strong bamboo roots fight erosion, sustain river banks, preserve water in the soil so preventing it form drying out Bamboo helps diminish water pollution due to its high nitrogen consumption. The bamboo grass renews itself by sending up new shoots after harvesting.  Bamboo is a grass, the fastest growing plant in the world (up to 1 meter per day !) and can be harvested after 4 till 5 years. Traditional hardwoods not only take 25-70 yers to mature, but also require replanting.

Growing bamboo does not require chemical pesticides or fertilizers, which is heavily the case with traditional cotton.

Dear Amanda,

I was so happy to read your comments on the Navetta 26!

I'm a boating fan (and owner) and used to stop working to go through your magazine as soon as it arrived; but lately I'm not enjoying it so much any more.

This run for the biggest you seemed to support without any consideration was starting to turn me off Boat International.

If we want this freedom to last we must act now and behave and I believe you have a crucial role to play here!

Yachtsmen used to have 400 tonnes yachts for the simple pleasures of one guy, today yachtsmen need 1.000 tonnes and running up. These yachts are sent around the world burning fuel by tonnes for the owner possibly wanting to discover some new destinations...

I can not imagine this will last and all of us boating fans will be affected if we do not start to control ourselves.

I get frustrated on a sailing boat but for my next purchase I start to consider it because this maybe the one I will stop feeling guilty about and may be able to use over a long time when regulations will start grounding these environmental disasters.

Please keep writing like that.  Please add Co2 emissions and fuel burnt per nautical mile for each boat spec; car magazines do it why should you not?

Energy saving light bulbs
They could be worse for our environment than good.
Energy saving light bulbs are made with mercury that is a highly toxic substance for our soils. 
(Not even Walmart seems to be prepared to collect and recycle them.) 
What are we, consumers, doing with them once they broke down? 
Should there at least not be a warning sign on its packaging?
 
Hybrid cars
This dual system of battery powered and combustion engine ads so much weight to the car that its consumption in fact is not less. 
In addition I’m asking ourselves if we are questioning the high cost on the environment to recycle those batteries after these cars get off the road?
 
Wind energy
This may be the biggest disaster to our global climate we are hiding to ourselves! 
What do you do when you want to dry something? 
You turn on a ventilator. 
Well that is exactly what these big wind farms are doing, the speed of their blades are drying the atmosphere which in turn makes micro climatic changes that combined may chance our global weather even more than by burning fossil fuels.

Look at the Grand Canyon, since California installed these huge wind farms there is no rain anymore to fill the river below that is now drying out at an alarming speed.
 
Solar power
We are now starting to hear that these voltaic panels’ life cycles would be no longer than 5 years! 
However recycling them again is very difficult, cost money and the process is very harmful to our environment.
 
Conclusion
Are we really moving forward in our fight to a cleaner world or are we just seeing some well played ‘games’ from politics and industries?

Scientifics are devided on the responsibility or non-responsibility of the human being. Some of them pretend it is an ideologic drift. Is it true that the dioxide produced by nature is significantly worse for the planet than the one produced by human activity? All those alarmist newses of which we are bombarded are they really objective? Are they not the game of the media and politics? Weather is mild compared to previous years, is it due to our energy consumption? Why in the XV century François Villon was writing in his poemes 'where are the snows of the past?' what was then the cause?

FR Il est indéniable et serait causé par le CO2 dans l'atmosphère.
Toute la question est de savoir si c'est le fait de l'homme, car l'on ne peut s'appuyer sur des expériences scientifiques mais relêve uniquement d'un raisonnement spéculatif. Les scientifiques sont divisés sur la responsabilité ou la non-responsabilité des humains. Certains d'entre eux prétendent qu'il s'agit d'une dérive idéologique. Est-il vrai que le dioxide (vapeurs d'au) produit par la nature est infiniment plus néfaste concernant le réchauffement que l'activité humaine? Toutes ces annonces alarmistes dont nous sommes bombardés sont-elles réellement objectives, ne sont elles pas le jeu des médias, de mouvements politiques?
Le temps est doux par rapport aux années précédentes, nous n'avons plus de neige. Est-ce imputable à notre consommation d'énergie?
Pourquoi au XV sciècle nous savons à travers le poête François Villon 'où sont les neiges d'antan?' quelle aurait été la cause?

I'd like to know. Would anybody support a rule that says those shops have to stop wasting energy? By using revolving doors? Automatic sliding doors? But not: open walls.
